Indiana State Fair 2013: Fun at Every Turn at Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis INDIANA - August 2, 2013 to August 18, 2013 *** The Indiana State Fair is held for 17 days each summer, yet it lives for generations in the memories of families who experience it together. Over 750,000 people visit the Indiana State Fair each year for family fun, rides and games, barnyard animals and fabulous fair food *** Light and fluffy, sometimes sweet or salty, popcorn is one of America''s favorite snack foods *** People have long known Indiana for being a tremendous corn-producing state, but very few folks know about our popcorn production," said Indiana State Fair Executive Director Cindy Hoye. *** The 2013 Indiana State Fair will have "fun at every turn," as the new theme declares, and much of it will be popcorn related. This is the seventh straight year the fair has highlighted one of Indiana’s agricultural commodities. Previously, the fair has featured corn, trees, tomatoes, pigs, soybeans, and dairy cows *** See the Sinbad High Dive Show, in which Sinbad and his band of gold seekers search for the fabled Golden Apple. The adventure includes lots of laughs and, ultimately, a plunge into the “ocean” from 80 feet in the air. This slapstick group has three or four shows each day in the Family Fun Park *** In addition, this year''s fair offers something that has never been seen during the summer celebration before: an outdoor ice show! There will be three-four daily shows with skaters doing stunts, performing with music and comedy, and displaying artistry as they glide through the specially-engineering tent housing the rink. Shows are included with fair admission *** Visitors can also explore a new interactive attraction called "Get Animated" which takes you from the original days of hand drawn celluloid animation to today''s computer creations from Pixar, DreamWorks, Sony, and Disney *** www.in.gov/statefair
